The AppShed Training Program is an ideal way to introduce children, many of whom may not currently have an interest in Computing/ICT as a subject, to the new and fascinating world of apps. AppShed has designed the program with the non-technical user in mind and has made app building simple and easy to follow.

Students build their apps using a range of building blocks within the intuitive app simulator. Using HTML5 technology it is possible to build and publish an app within an hour. Apart from the basics of app creation, AppShed also teaches concepts such as planning your app, implementing a design and information architecture. These are all transferable skills that are valuable in other subject areas. Students might even discover other previously unimagined career paths.

Using AppShed students can make an app that is relevant to their own interests. Students that might not be interested in technology can make an app that is pertinent to their love of fashion or sport or a favourite band or actor… the possibilities are endless. Children become creators of technology, not just consumers. Each child leaves with a huge sense of achievement, having been able to produce something tangible that they can share with others.

For teachers AppShed provides a great teaching tool. It is easy to use AppShed for a wide range of subjects such as English, Geography, Art, Science, Maths and many others. AppShed has also been used for school excursions: students create an "app-blog" while on a field trip including photos, videos, creative writting, map points etc. Other novel uses include apps for school sporting events and drama productions.

Make sure your school is equipping students for the digital world. Register your interest today and you can be among the first schools to teach app building in the classroom and inspire a new generation of app creators.
